DETAILS
From Broke Hall, this antique English Jacobean period room paneling displays the multi layered mouldings and carvings typical of the best craftsmen of the day. Includes:
- (1) Fireplace mantel. Width 84 Height 114 inches, Firebox: Width 66.5 Height 65 inches. With elaborately carved oak over-mantel with two busts of a male and female in the half round. The whole is divided in four sections by four lion headed capitals on pilasters.
- (4) Four double doors. Jamb: Width 62 inches Height 114 inches, Doors: Width 54 Height 83 inches. Backsides are all different. Some are mahogany and some are oak.
- (12) Paneled walls. Comprising: (5) Width 63 inches, (1) Width 65 inches, (2) Width 86 inches, (2) Width 31 inches, (2) Width 38 inches. Elaborately carved with strap-work, simulated columns, acanthus leaf brackets, medallions (square, rectangular and octagonal, often with central five-pointed star). The lion head capitals repeat at panel tops.
- (11) Pilaster pillars. Capital: Width 9 inches, Column: Width 7.5 inches. Used to cover panel seams. Allows for some small flexibility on the width of the walls.
